PHP Program

Partial Hospitalization ProgramAlternative Options Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) are short-term, structured, therapeutic treatment options for adults and adolescents experiencing persistent and severe mental health issues, need crisis stabilization, or are experiencing other conditions that are significantly impairing functioning or health.

Partial Hospitalization Programs are available for Mental Health, Chemical Dependency, and Eating Disorders. Alternative Options’ PHP programs are an appropriate step-down for individual’s transitioning from an inpatient or residential setting. PHP programming is completed on an outpatient basis and can be an alternative to inpatient treatment, if determined appropriate by our treatment team.

The PHP program is offered for both adults and adolescents and is structured to meet the unique needs of each individual. The PHP program is 5 days a week and includes 6 hours of programming. Lunch is included for all PHP participants.

A case manager is assigned to each client in our PHP program. Case managers work closely with the client’s multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop and implement an intensive, structured, therapeutic schedule and environment for the client. These scheduled activities and therapeutic interventions are implemented to assist the client in meeting their treatment goals.

Clients participating in the PHP program are assigned a treatment team comprised mental health and medical professionals to meet their unique needs. Every client is assigned a primary therapist, case manager, and psychiatrist. In addition to these professionals, clients will also have access to a registered dietitian and medical doctor.

The Mental Health Partial Hospitalization Program is designed to treat adolescents and adults struggling with severe depression, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-injury, persistent suicidal ideation, and other mental health conditions. Clients receive both individual and group therapy along with psychiatric services in order to bring immediate relief and stabilization. Clients will develop new coping skills and begin to develop a greater awareness of their mental health condition and how to effectively manage it.

The Chemical Dependency Partial Hospitalization Program treats adolescents and adults struggling with persistent substance use, addiction, and dependence. Clients are provided intensive case management, individual and group therapy, psychiatry, and medically assisted treatments if indicated.

The Eating Disorder Partial Hospitalization Program treats adolescent and adult males and females struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and disordered eating. Clients participate in individual and group therapy, psychiatry, and nutritional consultations with a registered dietitian. Clients also participate in structured, therapeutic meals in order to begin developing healthier relationships with food and associated feelings. Our client’s outside medical professionals are routinely consulted with to ensure the client’s safety and appropriateness for outpatient treatment.
